Bandhs hit the nation, Home Ministry appeals for restraint

As various parties and organisations have been calling bandh at the drop of a hat in various parts of the country, the Home Ministry has issued a public appeal urging all parties, student unions and organisations to exercise restraint and refrain from imposing any strike.
The Ministry has appealed all concerned to avoid holding programs that could affect peace, harmony and public life.
The public appeal was made after a number of organisations held bandh in various parts of the country. In the past one week, organisations like Janatantrik Terai Mukti Morcha, Chure-Bhawar Unity Society, Tharu Kalyankari Sabha and Nepal Federation of Indigenous Nationalities (NFIN) imposed bandh in Terai and hilly districts.
The Ministry's appeal has come on the eve of chakkajam (traffic blockade) and customs blockade announced by the Madhesi Janadhikar Forum (MJF). The forum had refused to sit for talks with the government saying they first want the Home Minister to resign. They have already announced that they will go for chakkajam and customs blockade from February 26 till March 5 in Terai region.
Meanwhile, the NFIN has decided to sit for talks with the government team on Monday afternoon. nepalnews.com sd Feb 26 07
