Government will lose legitimacy if CA not held on time, says Nepal

UML general secretary Madhav Kumar Nepal.

Raising his voice against the government the Unified Marxist Leninist (UML) general secretary Madhav Kumar Nepal warned that the government will lose legitimacy if the Constituent Assembly (CA) election is not held on stipulated time.

In his interactions with journalists in Ghorahi, Dang, Nepal said, "The country is facing the CA polls. In order to hold the polls by mid-June, interim government should be formed in a week, electoral legislations should be formulated within a week and date for CA polls should be immediately announced."

Nepal also claimed that the UML was ready to declare republic through the parliament if other parties agree.

Even as Nepal claimed that the interim government should be formed within a week, the meeting of eight party leaders could not take place on Saturday as he did not return to Kathmandu. Subsequently, Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala, too, left for Biratnagar on Saturday.(nepalnews.com)
